While it is rare to log out of League of Legends, you may find yourself in a scenario where you need to log out. If you have never done it before, it can seem complicated, especially as there is no explicit log-out button when the game client is open.

Logging Out Via Game Client

The easiest way to log out of League of Legends is via the LoL client. It is a quick, easy, and surefire way to log out without any potential issues. Just follow these simple steps:

How to Log Out of League of Legends:

1. Open your League of Legends client.
2. at the top right corner of the client will be an option to minimize or close League of Legends. 
3. Press the close button (X) to close the client.
4. a small pop-up window appears. It will have two options: “Exit” and “Sign Out.” Exit closes the client without signing you out, while the logout option logs you out completely.
5. Select “Sign Out” to be logged out from the client.

There you go! Next time when you open the League of Legends client, you will be prompted to re-enter your login information.

Alternative Logout Options

While logging out via the game client makes the most sense, there are four additional methods to log out of League of Legends. They are: using Alt + F4, ending the task in task manager, performing a hard reset, and changing your password. 

Why would you want to use these methods, though?

Well, the Alt + F4 and task manager methods can be used to leave games you are in. The other two are last-ditch efforts if your game client becomes unresponsive.

Task Manager

When games become unresponsive, an annoying and unfortunate time, sometimes you have to open up your task manager application to end the task. After opening the Task Manager, scroll down the list of tasks until you find League of Legends. Right-click on it and then press End Task. This should close League of Legends.

To open the task manager on a Windows PC, simply press Ctrl + Shift + Escape.

This is a handy shortcut to remember whenever a video game, web browser, or application encounters an unexpected error or the game freezes.

Performing a Hard Reset
