Are you also a big fan of the battle royale game Apex Legends?
Then you might have wondered if you can play it with friends on systems other than yourself.
After all, it’s not often you see a multiplatform game available on everything from beefed-up gamer PCs to consoles and smartphones (Apex Legends Mobile).
So is Apex Legends cross-platform? Let’s break it down.
Apex Legends is true cross platform between PC, Xbox, Nintendo Switch, and PlayStation. However, Apex Legends is only cross-progression between Steam and Origin.
Apex Legends is not the same game as Apex Legends Mobile. So Apex Legends does not support cross-play between PC/consoles and smartphones.

Does Apex Legends support cross-progression?
Apex Legends currently only have cross-progression on PC. You can save your progress, items, etc., across Steam and Origin accounts. But you can’t keep your loot if you move to game consoles and vice versa.
The reason is that you get different advantages on different platforms. Fx, it’s much easier to aim precisely with a mouse than with a controller.
How to turn off cross-play
Cross-play is on as default when you first fire up the game. But if you want to turn it off, here’s how:
- Go to the lobby
- Choose the game menu via the cogwheel (bottom right corner of the screen)
- Choose Settings
- Scroll down to Cross Platform Play
- Choose ‘Disabled’ to turn it off.
What is Apex Legends? – A short introduction.
- Game Developer: Respawn Entertainment, Panic Button Games, Avalanche Studios Group
- Game Publisher: EA
- Genre: Battle Royale, first-person shooter, hero-based shooter, free-to-play
Apex Legends is a wildly popular battle royale hero-based shooter. It’s also a free-to-play title, which has led to its huge player base.
It came out on February 4, 2019, but it has been updated many times and has received content such as new characters since its initial release.
The title first came out on PC, Playstation 4, and Xbox One, but it made its way to Nintendo Switch in March of 2021.
This game was originally developed by Respawn Entertainment, and they’re famous for creating Titanfall. Apex Legends is set in the same science-fiction world as Titanfall.
In this game, you’re one of many heroes who compete in a popular televised bloodsport known as the Apex Games.
The sport is owned by a company known as the Mysterious Syndicate, and there are deeper connections to the Titanfall games for players who truly want to dig into the lore.
The gameplay in Apex Legends comes from a first-person perspective, i.e., it is a first-person shooter where you will team up to form a squad of three players.
It’s a hero-based battle royale experience, which means that your team will compete against all other teams. You get to choose from a list of heroes, and every hero has unique abilities.

There are different seasons in Apex Legends that introduce new characters and sometimes even new game modes.
For example, an arena mode has been added that allows players to compete in a three versus three team deathmatch instead of a traditional battle royale game.
No matter what, this is an online game you will play with others.

- PlayStation 4 (PS4)
