Path of Exile (aka PoE) is an action role-playing game that is free to play. It has both single-player and multiplayer game options.
This title was both developed and published by Grinding Gear Games. It was released on October 23, 2013, for PC and was ported to consoles years later.
You can play Path of Exile solo, but you can also choose to play it alongside friends.

Get ready to shake the world of Wraeclast, and see the answers below!
Path of Exile only supports cross-platform play between PC and Mac. Path of Exile isn’t crossplay between PC/Mac and consoles. Likewise, Path of Exile isn’t crossplay between Xbox and PlayStation. However, the game supports cross-gen play through backward compatibility.

Path of Exile FAQ:
Here are the answers to some other common questions about Path of Exile:
Is Path of Exile cross-progression?
Path of Exile is only cross-progression and cross-save between PC and Mac. This means that the game doesn’t support cross-save between any other platforms.
Is Path of Exile on Switch?
No, Path of Exile isn’t available on Nintendo Switch when writing this.
Is Path of Exile pay to win?
No, I wouldn’t say PoE is pay-to-win, as you can easily play the game and level up without spending a dime. You can pay for cosmetic stuff, armor, pets, etc., but it doesn’t change the game.
The only thing that smells a bit like pay-to-win is the Stash Tabs, as they’ll help you sort out all your loot faster, but I still wouldn’t call Path of Exile p2w.

What is Path of Exile? – A quick overview.
- Game Developer: Grinding Gear Games
- Game Publisher: Grinding Gear Games
- Genre: Action Role-Playing Game
You’ll play in a dark fantasy world when you boot up Path of Exile. The player character wakes up on the shores of Wraeclast, considered a cursed land for criminals and undesirables.
You’ll have to face the wilderness and try to survive. You’ve been exiled to this place for some reason, but the reason will differ depending on which class you choose during character creation.
In PoE, you’ll control your player character from an overhead perspective. You’ll explore large areas such as forests, caves, and dungeons.
Players must battle enemies, take on quests from NPCs, and gain experience points to become stronger. In many ways, this game is similar to the Diablo games of the past.
There are different classes to choose from in PoE. You might wish to focus on magic or be more interested in pure physical strength.
It’s also notable that this game doesn’t have a money system because the people in this world use a bartering system instead.
